Another Article on the non-toxic control measure for Zebra and Quagga Mussels

As these species are increasing found in Western Waters, the use of these lakes is being severely impacted.  Many lakes have closed access sites for boats in hopes of stopping the spread.  To this point, prevention is the only hope for protecting these water resources.  Once the pest in introduced, there has been no option to manage the problem in the lake.  That may soon change.  Another lake system is taking a drawdown and treatment approach.  This reservoir in Northern California was found to have Zebra Mussels last year.
